A favicon (short for "favorite icon") is a small 16x16 or 32x32 pixel icon associated with a particular website or webpage. They are displayed in the browser tab, bookmarks bar, and sometimes in search engine results. They are crucial for brand identity and helping users locate your tab among many open ones.
Over the years, different devices and platforms have created their own standard icon sizes. For example, iPhones require an apple-touch-icon.png (usually 180x180) to display your site beautifully when a user saves it to their home screen. Android uses different standard dimensions. Providing all these sizes ensures your branding looks crisp on every device.
Unzip the downloaded file and upload all the resulting images into the root directory of your website (e.g., public_html or the top level of your hosting file manager). Then, copy the provided HTML snippet and paste it between the <head> and </head> tags of your website's index file.
Currently, the tool utilizes solid background colors mapped to specific shapes (Square, Rounded, Circle). If you upload a transparent PNG image, the background color you choose in the editor will fill the transparent areas to ensure uniform rendering across the generated icon files.
